Why Choose our Honey?
There are many, many different types of Honey out there and most will taste slightly different from each other. Oh, and by the way, I’m talking about raw honey of course, not the “stack it high, sell it cheap” “Honey” so readily available these days. Certainly, I think in some cases, even using the term “Honey” is a bit far-fetched.
The Honey bees forage and collect nectar available in their local area, so you get, what you get, so to speak. Sometimes, floral, sometimes very sweet, sometimes, runny, sometimes crystalised hard. It all depends on what is out there for them to forage on. There is no “better” or “worse”. Its all packed full of goodness, enzyme rich, antibacterial, contains dietary antioxidants, and has anti-inflammatory effects. All in all I think you will agree…. Pretty good stuff.
So, our Honey is of course, “Raw” Honey. By that we mean it hasn’t been heated to high temperatures, to suck out every last drop and maximise the volume of the product. Our process is, we take the Honey frames from the Hive, we spin these frames in a Centrifugal extractor which forces the honey out of the honey cells where it then collects at the bottom of the tank. We then use a two stage (Course and Medium) filter to collect any “bits” and then let the honey rest in a “settling” tank, before transferring it to honey jars. Simple!
Because we used a spinner to extract the honey, the “wet” frames are undamaged and reusable, so we can pop them straight back into the hive where the bees will happily clean the frames up for us and they will start to fill them again.
We don’t add anything to the honey, we don’t take away anything from the honey, so what you are getting, is about as close as we can get it to taking a spoon and scooping it straight out of the hive (Disclaimer…. This is not recommended)
Its not a fast method of providing Honey but what you are getting is natural, raw, delicious Honey.
The proof as they say, is in the eating though. Please Try it and see for yourself.
